My 2015 Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG has suffered two separate ECU failures caused by oil migrating through the engine wiring harness. The first failure occurred at ~42,600 miles in 2020, and the second at ~59,000 miles in 2023. Both times, the vehicle developed misfires, check-engine warnings, and drivability issues that could have led to stalling at highway speeds. Spontaneous shattering of anterior sunroof at highway speeds with no cars around and not near overpasses. Shattered glass rained all throughout the vehicle and passengers. Sounded like a gunshot and the glass appeared to be bowed out.

THE VEHICLE MISFIRED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND PRESENTED A CODE FOR FAULTY IGNITION COILS. UPON INSPECTION, MERCEDES-BENZ SERVICE CENTER FOUND OIL IN THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS RENDERING THE CAR UNDRIVEABLE.

THE CAR RAN OUT OF BRAKE FLUID - THERE WAS AN INDICATOR AND WHEN TAKEN TO SERVICE WE WERE TOLD THE RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. WHAT IS ALARMING IS THAT THE CAR IS SERVICED VERY FREQUENTLY AND ONE SET OF BRAKES WAS RECENTLY REPLACED (ABOUT 6 MONTHS). MOREOVER THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NO LEAK. THEY STATED THAT THEY DO NOT REPLENISH THE BRAKE FLUID WHEN REPLACING PADS, IN ESSENCE, BECAUSE THE FLUID SYSTEM IS SO FRAGILE AND THEY ARE AFRAID THEY WILL DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD. IT SEEMS LIKE A…

THE SUV WAS 4 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTEE BUT WITH LESS THAN 15K MILES. WHILE DRIVING, SUDDENLY THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT BECAME ILLUMINATED AND THERE WAS A TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING. WAS ABLE TO STOP THE SUV IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE WITH RETURN OF STEERING FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE HONOLULU BENZ SERVICE DEPARTMENT GETTING A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING RACK.

WHILE DRIVING FOR A PERIOD OF 30 MINUTES TO A HOUR ON CRUISE CONTROL THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN Y CRUISE CONTROL SENDS UP A ERROR MESSAGE N CUTS OUT THEN MY TRANSMISSION DROPS FROM 7TH GEAR TO 6TH GEAR AND WOULD GET STUCK AND I CAN'T SHIFT IT AT ALL.
